No Lally Gaggin.

Andy Lally

Andy Lally is a top-notch race car driver who has manged to win the Daytona 24, 4 times and the Rolex Series, 3 times. His 4 Daytona wins are chased down with 3 second place finishes as well and he is currently the only driver who has accomplished this feat. He was also chosen as NASCAR Sprint Cup Rookie Of The Year in 2011. Andy also happens to be vegan since 2009, much to the dismay of many racing fans.

Mr. Lally always had pets when he was growing up and is very informed about his food and where it comes from. He evokes a sense of compassion that is energizing and his choice to go vegan, after being vegetarian for many years, all came down to ethics. He feels that it is truly unethical to eat animals and that if more people saw how animals were killed and packaged, fewer people would be eating meat.

Not one to wear his veganism on his sleeve, Andy keeps his opinions to himself unless he is probed. Once he is probed, he is not afraid to educate the masses. Andy is the type of vegan we need more of, humble, thankful and willing to take a little dirt for what he loves.

Tasty Treats Review : Vegan Treats.

19 Feb

There is not much I can say about Vegan Treats that has not already been said. If you live here on the East Coast of the USA then you may have had the pleasure of surrounding your taste buds with their treats aka ‘some of the best vegan goodies ever made’. They should just re-name the bakery ‘Vegan Crack’ that way others will get the point. Any attempt to eat just one baked good from Vegan Treats, will be futile 😉

Founded by Danielle Konya, she set out to make her vegan treats as good, if not better than their dairy and egg laden counterparts. She has more than accomplished her goal. Crowed the winner of PBS’ ‘Feast Of Sweets’ where she competed against 50 other bakers, who all used animal products, yet she came out on top. Showing the world that not only are Vegan Treats better for the planet, they simply taste better as well.

PETA has awarded Vegan Treats it’s ‘Proggy Award’ for Best Bakery and Ms. Konya has also managed to land herself a Guest Chef spot at Google as well. Her treats can be found all over the East Coast in some of the best vegan restaurants around. From Red Bamboo to Loving Hut, everyone seems to be carrying Vegan Treats as their dessert option these days.

Personally, I have tried like 10 different things from Vegan Treats and I cannot pick a favorite. The Peanut Butter Mousse Brownie it to die for, as are all of their cheesecake options. I can safely say, they make the best cheesecake ever, vegan or not, I have never had anything like it. Everything is full of flavor, decadent and made with love.

As for stopping by Vegan Treats, here is the 4-1-1 and a link to their website below…

freerangers 3

Freerangers is an awesome vegan shoe, belt and accessory maker based in the U.K. All of their offerings are not only cruelty free but handmade as well. What strikes me the most about Freerangers is how diverse the ‘attitude’ and ‘style’ of their pieces are. There truly is something for everyone.

Their extensive catalog of offerings are all for sale on the net. And yes they do ship to the US. I emailed them to ask if they did and got a super kind reply. I now look forward to placing my order with them. I love handmade, vegan anything, and hand-made vegan fashions are not so easy to come by.

Since everything is made to order, by hand, they do take a bit longer to ship. Keep this in mind if you are planning to buy someone some Freerangers fashions as a gift. Men, women and children are all covered, cruelty-free so get to shopping below…

Read This: The Thrive Diet: The Whole Food Way to Lose Weight, Reduce Stress, and Stay Healthy for Life.

28 Dec

If you are into eating a well rounded, plant based diet and if you are into being athletic then this book is for you. If you just want to learn how to eat a well balanced, vegan diet then this book is for you too. And for those of you who are into maximizing their athletic performance, pushing themselves physically and mentally, this book is for you. It is also a great read for people who are just being introduced to a vegan diet because this is the proper way to eat, in my humble.

Health, fitness, wellness, Mr. Brazier touches upon it all in ‘The Thrive Diet.’ Not so much a diet, more a lifestyle, this book is so packed with information, it is hard to put it down. Brendan Brazier, the author, is an amazing athlete in his own right. A former Ironman Triathlete, he is also an ultra marathon runner as well as the creator of the awesome plant based supplement line, Vega. So needless to say, this guy knows his stuff.

Nothing is really left unsaid in this book. There are over 100 recipes including exercise specific ones, a 12 week detailed eating plan and some full on teachings about the way nutrition works. He literally covers all bases of the healthy, active, vegan lifestyle making it very easy for one to leave their meat laden diet behind, once and for all.

Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine Expo. Janurary 26-27, 2013.

16 Dec

I post about so many events here and most of the super rad ones are not anywhere near NJ. Ish is whack but what can ya do? You gotta go where the action is. That is why I will be in L.A. at the Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine Expo next month. This expo is everything a fitness junkie, veg head could ever want.

This expo will take place at the Radisson at LAX on Saturday January 26 and Sunday January 27. There are so many cool people speaking at this expo. Athletes, nutritionists, figure competitors, chefs, the list goes on and on. There are classes, presentations even photo shoots. This sounds like it is going to be a great event that should be very inspiring.

The Radisson is offering discounted room rates for the expo and the hotel is very pet friendly so feel free to bring your furry friends 🙂 Read all about the Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine Expo below…

New Year. New You Health Fest. Janurary 11-13, 2013.

8 Dec

What better way to start the new year than a long weekend in Texas surrounded by vegan food, goodies and like minded individuals? Well if that sounds good to you than you should check out the ‘New Year. New You Health Fest.’ This is all going down January 11-13 in Marshall Texas, a small town about 2.5 hours from Dallas and .5 hour from the airport in Shreveport, Louisiana.

This festival includes EVERYTHING health and veg related. We are talking fitness boot camps, weight loss lectures, cooking demonstrations and even a chili cook off to boot. Registration is going on now and thru December 15th, tickets for all 3 days are $150. After December 25th tickets will be $200. Those are really great prices for the amount of information you will be learning/given over this weekend event.

The festival has contacted the area hotels to inform them about the event. The hotels the festival recommends staying at have all taken extra care to assure that there are vegan food options for breakfast each morning, fresh fruit, oatmeal and milk alternatives will all be on hand. Most hotels are also offering a discounted rate for those in town for the health fest so be sure you tell them who your rollin with.

If you do attend, drop me a line and let me know, I am planning on attending myself and would love to meet up 🙂
