Bye Bye St. Ives.

This is a terribly sad post for me to blog. I am a hard-core St. Ives product user. I use it all from body lotion to face scrubs, I cannot imagine my beauty routine without their products. But it looks as if I am going to have to make a change because St. Ives has been bought by Unilever and Unilever tests on animals 😦

Someone majorly dropped the ball on this move, or perhaps they simply didn’t care. Either way a whole slew of people are going to have to stop buying St. Ives products because they are no longer in line with the vegan ethic of not buying things that are tested on animals. This move was made a couple of years back but it seems as if St. Ives is just getting around to their new packaging which no longer includes, ‘Not Tested On Animals’ or ‘No Animal Ingredients.’

To add insult to injury, Unilever has also take it upon themselves to change the classic formulas we all came to love. For example. my favorite coconut/orchid body lotion formula has been changed, a down grade at that and they have also decided to add the preservative/chemical BHT to the end of the ingredients list. I will not even eat anything with BHT in it, why the hell would I rub it all over my skin, the largest organ on my body? And what about the classic apricot face scrub? Yeah well the one I use, now has lanolin in it, which comes from sheep’s wool which makes it not vegan.

So not only are St. Ives products now tested on animals but they also contain chemicals and animal ingredients. 3 strikes and you are OUT. But what did anyone really expect from Unilever? That company is a horrible, animal testing, chemical making machine, it’s just too bad they had to take St. Ives down with them.
