Four Turkey Alternatives To Give Thanks For.

20 Nov

Since this Thanksgiving I know ALL of you are going veg, I figured I would toss out some delicious turkey alternatives that will make you, your family and all the turkey’s of the world, very happy. Here are the most popular turkey alternatives I know about. Also keep this in mind, many vegetarian restaurants offer a faux turkey meal situation that you can pick up on Thanksgiving or even the day before. I know here in NJ, Loving Hut in Ledgewood and all 3 Veggie Heaven locations are baking up faux birds for the masses. Just some food for thought 🙂

First off, we have the classic Tofurky. Tofurky is a soy alternative to eating a dead bird. Besides the basic Tofurky, they also offer a whole vegetarian spread which includes 1 Tofurkey roast made with non-gmo soy, Savory Giblet Gravy, Wild Rice, Whole Wheat Bread Crumb Stuffing, Tofurky® Jurky Wishstix, Organic Chocolate Cake from Amy’s Kitchen (this is a new addition) and Happy Tofurky Day card & coupons. Each feast is 100% vegan, cooks in about an hour and serves 6. Tofurky Vegan Feast.

Next up, the Gardein Holiday Roast. This veg roast serves 8 and is a soy and wheat gluten based protein. Vegan friendly, it also comes with home style gravy and a wild rice, cranberry stuffing. Gardein also does not use gmo-soy and their feast is also all natural. Gardein Holiday Roast

Now for something totally soy free, we have the Field Roast which is a grain ‘meat’. This alternative is also all natural, stuffed with Field Roast ‘sausage’, crystallized ginger, cranberries and apples all wrapped in a savory puff pastry. Field Roast, Stuffed Grain Roast.

We also have a ‘Celebration Roast’ that too comes from Field Roast. This grain based roast has sausage-style stuffing made from Field Roast grain meat, fresh cut butternut squash, mushrooms and granny smith apples seasoned with a blend of rosemary, thyme and sage. We then surround the stuffing with our most luxuriant grain meat seasoned with rubbed sage, garlic and lemon juice. Field Roast Celebration Roast.
