5 Signs It’s Time To Kick Your Personal Trainer To The Curb.

Like every other relationship, the one you have with your personal trainer may also eventually run its course. Sometimes you find a trainer you just gel with and you make progress and you learn a lot, other times you are simply wasting your time. Like any relationship, there are signs that it is o-v-e-r.

Here are 5 signs that it is time to tell your personal trainer to get to steppin…

1- They Talk, Text, Look, Peek or Even Acknowledge Their Cell Phone. There is absolutely no need for a cell phone on the gym floor, to time exercises a trainer should have a watch on and their attention and focus should be 100% on you and the exercises you are performing. You are paying for a service and if they can’t provide the service in a proper way then BYE BYE.

2- They Have Never Asked You What Your Goals Are. Does your trainer even know what you want to accomplish in the gym? Lose weight, tone up, put on muscle, have they even asked? If not then you need to ditch that trainer and find a new one. How can you be on the same page if your trainer does not even know where you want to go?

3- You Don’t Know Your Way Around The Gym. All those hours together, all that money spent and you still don’t know your way around the gym. Still cannot put together a work out, don’t know how to properly use machines and don’t know the correct way to exercise? Well then you have the WRONG trainer. You should be able to zip around the gym dolo after all those sweat sessions with your trainer.

4- You See Zero Changes In Your Physique. Assuming that you are not sabotaging your work outs by eating horribly, you should see changes in your body within 2 months of beginning a training routine. These changes maybe small at first but they will be there. Your jeans should fit better and you should see some muscle tone. If you see no changes then you are seeing the wrong trainer.

5- You Don’t Like Them. This is simple, if you don’t like your trainer then ask for a new one. Every gym will grant this request and trust me, no one will be offended. Not everyone gets along with everyone. Someones particular training style may not be the best for you but I guarantee someone else at that gym can get you to where you want to go.

    That’s really funny. My belief is that you don’t really need a personal trainer. There’s enough information out there to teach you what you need without one. #1 made me laugh. If I was a PT and someone was paying me for the time I can’t imagine even having my phone with me.

    Liking a trainer is huge! It can make or break a session. That said, if my trainer ever texted or looked at their cell in the hour I paid for, they would be so done!
