Vitamin A.

Vitamin A is all over the place in the world of skin care but when it comes to ingesting this vitamin I feel it tends to be over looked. This is not a good look because vitamin A is super important when it comes to many aspects of our bodies health and well-being. One of the best things about vitamin A from a veg standpoint is that it naturally occurs in so many fruits and veggies that we should be eating on the daily.

When it comes to assisting our bodies vitamin A plays a key role in our vision, immune function, skin and cellular health and the bodies antioxidant activity. Things like smoking cigarettes, drinking too much alcohol and chronic exposure to oxidants such as air pollution all increase ones risk for vitamin A deficiency. On the other hand, taking too much vitamin A can lead to nasty issues like nausea, irritability, headaches, hair loss and lack of appetite just to name a few. Vitmains are crazy like that, too little your sick and too much your sick, they kind of force you to eat a well balanced diet.

As far as getting your vitamin A on, we are all in luck here at Veggie Fitness because some of our most favorite foods in the world are chock full of vitamin A. Sweet potatoes, Kale, Pumpkin, Carrots and Butter (yeah I said it) are all packing a nice punch of A, so if you are eating as you should be eating, your levels of A should be on point. Other sources of vitamin A include Broccoli, Spinach, (Rennet Free) Cheddar Cheese, Dandelion Greens, Apricots and Cantaloupe. I will never forget the time I saw my old as dirt Great Grandma (rip) eating dandelion greens, I was no older than 6 and I was so confused, I thought she was losing her mind. She wasn’t she just knew what was up,  she lived a very long life into her 90’s because of those dandelion greens 😉
