Peaches Growing In A Vineyard.

I ate the most amazing peach last night so I just had to give this delicious fruit some shine before the summer ends here on the East Coast. I had no idea that peaches were native to China but they are, they are also held in the same classification as almonds due to the type of pit they have. To me this makes sense because a peach pit looks a lot like an almond in the shell. Peaches are mentioned in Chinese history as far back as the 1100  B.C. Talk about kickin it old school, more like kickin it Old Testament 😉

Since peaches need some coolness to grow they tend to fair well in many climates, they flower in the Spring and bloom to fruit by the summer. Nectarines are also considered to be a peach and grow in the same type of climates. A medium peach only contains about 30 calories and has 2 grams of fiber and 1 gram of protein. High in Vitamin C, Iron, Niacin and Potassium, peaches are the perfect low-calorie, guilt free snack. Peaches are also a great source of Luetin which gives the color to fruits and veggies such as carrots, tomatoes, pepper and other red, yellow and orange veggies. Luetin has been show to help prevent cancer, heart disease and macular degeneration. Recent studies also show that eating fruits and veggies with Luetin also gives your skin a nice glow. Sounds good to me.

Keep It Peachy.
