Tiramisu. So Good Yet So Bad For You.

Tiramisu is something that has always been in my life but I have not always liked it. As a child I hated the taste of coffee, so I would eat the top half of the tiramisu and leave the bottom half that had been soaked in the coffee 😉 This recipe SEVERELY cuts down the calories in this decedent dessert. Do you know that one small piece of tiramisu that you get at a restaurant has about 880 CALORIES in it???? 880??? That is pure insanity. Not to mention there are a whopping 63 GRAMS OF FAT. 33 of which are the artery clogging SATURATED type. Needless to say, this Italian dessert is in dyer need of a make under and that is precisely what this recipe does. With only 175 calories per serving, this cake will pick you up as tiramisu is meant to. Enjoy!!!

‘Not As Bad For You’ Tiramisu.

– 2/3 Of A Cup Hot Water.

– 2 Tablespoons Of Brandy. (I am pretty sure it would not kill you or the recipe to take this out.)

– 1 Tablespoon Of Instant Espresso Powder.

– 1/4 Of A Cup Of Whipping Cream.

– 1 Box Of Reduced Fat Cream Cheese, Softened.

– 1/4 Of A Cup Of Low Fat Milk.

– 1/2 Teaspoon Of Vanilla Extract.

– 1 Tablespoon Of Cocoa Powder.

– 4 oz Of Sponge Type Lady Fingers.  (30 Halves).

1- In a small bowl, stir together hot water, brandy, espresso powder and 1 tablespoon of sugar until the sugar dissolves.

2- In a medium bowl, with mixer on medium speed, beat cream until soft peaks form when the beaters are lifted.

3- In a large bowl, with mixer on medium-high speed, beat cream cheese and 1/4 cup of sugar until fluffy, about 4 minutes. Continue beating, add milk and vanilla in a slow and steady stream. Beat until well mixed and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

4- With spatula, gently fold whipped cream into cream cheese mixture.

5- In an 8×8 baking dish, arrange half of the lady fingers, flat sides up, in a single layer. Pour half of brandy mixture evenly over the lady fingers, let stand until absorbed.

6- Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the lady fingers. Top with remaining lady fingers, flat sides up. Brush the remaining brandy mixture over the lady fingers, allowing the liquid to absorb before each addition. Spread evenly with remaining cream cheese mixture.

7- Sift cocoa powder evenly on top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or over night.
