Cranberries Are High In Fiber And Low In Sugar.

 

What you refuel your body with AFTER you work out maybe one of the most important ‘meals’ of your day. And maybe the quickest 😉  In order to build the lean muscle we all so desire to have we must rebuild the muscles we tear when we work out. The easiest way to repair and refuel is by making a quick protein shake. There are a million different ways to shake, from chocolate to raspberry. This cranberry shake is great because cranberries are low in calories and sugar making this the perfect high fiber fruit to use in a smoothie.

Cranberry Protein Shake (Makes 2 servings):

1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries rinsed and drained

1 medium orange, peeled and chopped coarsely

1 cup of orange juice with pulp (without is fine too)

2 scoops of plain or vanilla whey protein powder (for Vegan use soy)

1 teaspoon of honey (for Vegan use Agave)

Directions:

Place cranberries, orange pieces and orange juice in blender and process until completely blended, should take about 1 minute.

Scrape down blender and add whey and honey and continue blending until smooth.

Serve immediately.

(190 calories, 0 grams of fat, 28 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fiber, 22 grams of sugar and 20 grams of protein)
