In The Near Future : Obesity To Be The Leading Cause Of Cancer.

While American main stream media chooses to flood our minds with nonsense, there are some huge scientific strides being made in the cancer forefront. The most recent study I came across shows us that cancer from obesity will take over the crown from tobacco. Tobacco is currently the leading cause of cancer but the fatter we all get, the more that changes.

These days 1 out of 3 Americans are overweight and 1 out of 5 cancer deaths are directly linked to obesity. Yet less than 10% of the American population even knows about the connection between obesity and cancer. Good on the main stream media, they have us all hemmed up on the b.s all while keeping us blind to the real.

As of now 75% of Americans eat fast food monthly, almost 50% eat it weekly and less than 5% of us get any exercise. Period. That means over 95% of Americans don’t do jack in terms of physical activity. Unless you are physically handicapped, some embarrassment should be felt.

Eating garbage food has been linked to depression in children and adults, junk food impairs children’s ability to focus and learn. All this fake food we consume has made us obese and since we choose not to exercise we are only getting fatter. And after all this, it is finally giving us cancer.

The types of cancers obesity has been linked to are as follows…Breast (in women more so after menopause), Colon and Rectum, Kidney, Uterine, Esophageal, Pancreatic, Thyroid, Gallbladder and Endometrium (lining of the uterus). Further research is also showing links to Ovarian, Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Liver, Prostate, Multiple myeloma and Cervical cancers as well.

So if all that doesn’t scare you into taking some ‘life inventory’ then I don’t know what will. What I do know is that we, as a society, need to wake up. We are killing ourselves via food and laziness, two things which we have TOTAL control over.

Now let’s get it together already!

Trimming The Fat In Japan.

24 Nov

To do their part in combating the worlds horrendous obesity epidemic, Japan has said N.I.M.B.Y. to that mess. By applying rules and regulations that essentially make ‘being fat’ illegal, they are making sure obesity never happens to them. Waist measurements for those aged 40 and above are set at 33.5 for men and 35.4 for women. The people of Japan are tested annually by their employer to be sure their weight has not gone off the deep end and if it has, then the employee must go to counseling to find the root issue. One simply ‘getting fat’, is simply not acceptable.

By this year, 2012, Japanese employers were told they needed to slash their overweight employees by 10% and by 2015 it needs to be at 25%.  Named the ‘Metabo Law’, this is Japan’s way of keeping themselves in check. With a obesity rate that is less than 5%, many may think this law is nuts. But when you look at the changes in the Japanese diet and where they are coming from (America), then look at that land’s obesity rate (America, almost 40%), you see how that dietary disaster destroyed them. Anyone with 2 eyes and common sense would not want to emulate America on this topic.

A lot of this comes down to Japan’s style of heath care and let’s face it, being overweight is a huge burden on the healthcare system. Japan knows this and that is why their health exams also include questions about smoking, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar tests. Sure this may seem radical and insane to some but look at us here in the US, there are more overweight and obese people than there are slim or average. And it happened quick.

There is something to be said about personal accountability and awareness and I think that is what Japan is trying to get across.  I know health care is a touchy subject here in The States, I am not even trying to get political, simply stating that health care and obesity will straight up bankrupt any country. Healthy people do not need health care. So there, problem solved 😉

America: Land Of The Disease De Jour.

11 Sep

Raise your hand if you have an aliment? Now raise your hand if you have two? Very good, you in the later group also fall in the ‘norm’ of American Society. That is right, most Americans suffer from not one but two chronic health issues. The almost always prevalent combo of diabetes and high blood pressure is the one that is really decimating Americans over the past 10 years. One can argue that neither diabetes or high blood pressure are ‘deadly’ and sure maybe they will not kill you themselves but their side effects will. Plus these days most people dying in America are dying with diabetes they never even knew they had. So yes, if left untreated these diseases do indeed kill you and even if they are ‘treated’ is anything even accomplished?

Half of American adults age 65 or over are riding the double chronic health issue train and 25% of Americans age 45-64 are on the same tracks. That is pretty scary when you think about it. Not to mention, 45 is young, how can you be so disrespectful to your body that by age 45 its in such shock it needs constant medication to function properly? If this was the old school you would all be dead. Think about that. Americans are being kept ‘alive’ by medicine because they don’t eat right. Eating is the most simple, basic, fundamental human task. There were no cars, trains, Ipods or record players when mankind taught themselves how to nourish their bodies yet in 2012 we act like we don’t know? We will allow computers to parallel park our cars, we clone our dogs, we inject toxins into our face to freeze our youth yet we are dying by age 45 from poor eating habits. LA LA LA LA. That’s what I think about THAT. I am so not hearing it.

Hypertension (high blood pressure), heart disease, diabetes, cancer, stroke, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, current asthma and kidney disease are the 9 most common chronic illnesses. Is it any surprise they are all connected? Didn’t think so. Is it any surprise that if you get one there is a great chance that unless you change your diet and lifestyle drastically you will have 2, 3 and 4 very soon? Didn’t think so. We can sit and choose to blame this all on lack of health care or being too busy but the bottom line is, that is all bullshit. Period. Worried about health care? Then get healthy cuz healthy people don’t need to worry about constant health care. And if you are truly too busy then how do the millions of you find the time to vote for the next American Idol or stalk your ex on Facebook?

Sometimes the truth hurts. Or in this case, the truth kills.
